Most of the equipment that Metrolab has delivered since 1985 is still operational, and not infrequently we receive twenty-year old teslameters for calibration or repair. Often this equipment has been passed down from one generation of scientist to the next; probes, manuals and accessories have been lost; and the application has completely changed.
It is clear that after twenty years, we may no longer be able to obtain replacement parts or help you debug complex system problems. Nonetheless, to the extent possible, Metrolab is committed to servicing all our clients.
Our top objective is always to help you perform your measurements.
Our prices and conditions are all on-line. However, we realize that many of our products are considered capital acquisitions, and that you need a formal, written offer for budgeting or purchasing. We are of course fully prepared to help you identify your needs and to send you such an offer the very same day.
We are occasionally approached concerning the availability of used or rental equipment, to handle a short-term or transitory problem. As a rule, we do not resell used equipment. However, we do offer our equipment for rent, at 10% of the purchase price per month, for a minimum of one month, with an option to buy at the end of the rental period. Only standard products are offered for rent, always subject to availability. A security deposit is required. See the full list of conditions.
In a complicated accelerator system that is intended to operate for a decade with only periodic opportunities for service, it may be worthwhile to have us review your installation, or even to perform part of it. Or if you are introducing the Magnetic Field Camera, a complex NMR field mapping system, into your production processes, you may wish to have us train your staff. We are happy to discuss your approach to these problems, and to prepare a quote for services adapted to your situation.
Metrolab equipment is reputed for its
quality and robust design. Every unit is burned in, tested and
calibrated. But in spite of our best efforts, our equipment does
occasionally fail. For this eventuality, Metrolab offers a two-year
warranty. And of course we continue to service our equipment well after
the warranty period – even after twenty years, if we can.
Our
turn-around time for a repair is generally one to two weeks. After we
receive your equipment, we diagnose the problem, prepare an offer, and
wait for your authorization to proceed. Thus, repair prices are fixed
appropriately, and you are always in full control of the cost.
To ensure that your equipment continues to operate within specifications, it should be periodically calibrated. We suggest a calibration interval for each piece of equipment, based on our experience with that instrument; however, you make the final determination, in accordance with your own QA policy. The turn-around time and procedure is similar to repairs.
Especially
for probes or probe arrays, we offer semi-custom solutions. For
example, your new magnet may require a non-standard Magnetic Field
Camera Probe Array, adapted for your field and geometry. We can
generally produce such a probe array, based on our standard products,
for a fixed design and tooling surcharge.
In other situations,
customers have called upon our resources and experience to develop
fully custom solutions, or to perform a feasibility study. Metrolab is
eager to explore any approach that helps you perform your magnetic
measurements, provided of course that they make technical and economic
sense. See our OEM page for a taste of our experience in these sorts of collaborations.
